In order to play Railroad Tycoon you must identify pictures of locomotives. I will attempt to describe them. First I will group them by the number of wheels on the engine itself and the number of wheels on the following coal car. Engines with two wheels: 0-4-0 Grasshopper---no following coal car 2-2-0 Planet---two wheels on following coal car Engines with three wheels: 4-2-0 Norris---one large wheel on the left, two small wheels on the right ---two wheels on following coal car 2-2-2 Patentee---one large wheel in the middle, two small wheels on either side ---two wheels on following coal car 0-6-0 DX Goods---three wheels on following coal car Engines with four wheels: 4-4-0 American---two large wheels on the left, two small wheels on the right ---four wheels on following coal car 4-4-0 Claud Hamilton---two large wheels on the lt and two small wheels on the rt ---three wheels on coal car 2-6-0 Mogul---three large wheels on the left, one small wheel on the right ---four wheels on following coal car F3-A Diesel-Electric---two small wheels on the far left ---two small wheels on the far right ---no following car ---Now check the angle formed by the front window and the area in front of the window, on this train it is not a right angle. The front of the engine is not sloped like an air plane. EMD GP Diesel-Electric---same wheel arrangement as above also no following car ---On this engine there is a right angle just to the right of the window. 0-8-0 Webb Compound---four wheels the same size on the engine, evenly spaced ---three wheels on the coal car V200 B-B ---four small wheels on the engine ---no coal car This engine has a cab on both ends. TGV---Four small wheels on the engine. ---No coal car. This is the famous French high speed train. ---The nose of the engine slopes down much like an air plane. 4-2-0 Iron Duke---one small wheel, large wheel then two small wheels in order left to right ---three wheels on coal car ---This engine has what looks like a smoke stack over the far left wheel on the coal car 4-2-2 Stirling---same wheel arrangement as above ---no smoke stack on the coal car ---No bell shaped object protruding from the top of the engine 4-2-2 Johnson Midland Spinner---same wheel arrangement as the Iron Duke and Stirling with no smoke stack on coal car. The Spinner has a bell shaped object protruding from the top of the engine. Engines with five wheels: 4-6-0 Ten-Wheeler---three large wheels on the lt and two small wheels on the rt 2-8-0 Consolidation---four large wheels on the lt and one small wheel on the rt Engines with six wheels: 4-6-2 Pacific---one small wheel, three large wheels, then two small wheels in order from left to right coal car ---two small wheels on the far left and two small wheels on the far right 4-6-2 A1 Class (Gresley)---same engine wheel arrangement as above coal car ---four evenly spaced small wheels ---No connection at cab roof line between the engine and coal car 4-6-2 A4 Class---same engine and coal car wheel arrangement as A1 Class ---There is a connection at the cab roof line between the engine and the coal car. 2-8-2 Mikado---one small wheel, four large wheels, one small wheel in order from left to right ---does have a coal car 1-DO-1 Class E18---same engine wheel arrangement as the Mikado ---no following car ---engine has two overhead electrical connections 6/6 GE Class Crocodile---one small wheel, a group of two small wheels, another group of two small wheels, and one small wheel in order from left to right ---no coal car Bo-Bo-Bo RE Class 6/6---three groups of two small wheels no coal car Engines with eight wheels: 4-8-4 242 A1--- the only engine with eight wheels Engines with ten wheels: 2-6-6-4 Mallet (Challenger Class)-the only engine with ten wheels
