If you install Tomb Raider:Unfinished Business through Windows '95, a short cut will be
created on your Start Bar called 'Tomb Raider UB' in a 'Core Design' folder.  You can
access the Readme, TRFAQ, and the Tomb Raider web site here.


3D PATCHES FOR Tomb Raider:Unfinished Business
==============================================
Patches for the following 3D cards are included on this CD in the 3DPATCHES directory:

1.3Dfx (does not work with Voodoo 2)
2.ATI (requires card that utilizes RagePro chip set)
3.S3
4.PowerVR

NOTE: Each patch is located in it's own directory with appropriate instructions.


TOMB RAIDER ACCESSORIES
=======================
*NOTE: YOU MUST BE RUNNING WINDOWS '95 IN ORDER TO INSTALL & USE THE TOMB RAIDER
 ACCESSORIES.

The option to install the TOMB RAIDER ACCESSORIES is available from the SETUP MENU.


SCREEN SAVER
============
After installing the screen saver, go to the screen saver option on your DISPLAY
PROPERTIES menu and select the 'TRSAVER' to setup the Tomb Raider screen saver.

NOTE: If your screen saver doesn't seem to be working when trying the above method, use
the FIND file option located on the Windows Start bar.  The screen saver file (TRSAVER.SCR)
is located in the WINDOWS directory.  Find the file and double click on it.  If you get
the following error:

"The TRSAVER.SCR is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6453" it means a certain file in
your Windows directory is probably out of date.

Go to your SYSTEM directory in Windows (c:\windows\system) and located the MFC42.DLL file.
Right click on it with the mouse and select properties. Highlight the 'VERSION' tab and 
select 'PRODUCT VERSION' under the Item Name category.  If it does not read 5.000 or higher
the file is out of date.  Delete the file and re-install the TOMB RAIDER ACCESSORIES and the
new file will be installed.  The latest MFC42.DLL is also included in the ACCESSORIES folder.


CALENDAR
========
After installing the calendar, go the CORE DESIGN program folder (default directory)
and select the calendar option to view.


DESKTOP THEME
=============
NOTE: You must have Microsoft PLUS! installed on your system in order to run any desktop
theme.  

After installing the desktop theme, select DESKTOP THEMES from the Control Panel and
highlight the TR Theme that's located in the following default installation directory:

C:\WINDOWS\PLUS!\THEMES\


EIDOS DEMOS
===========
There are a number of demos for other EIDOS products included on this CD:


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEMOS:
==================================
Unless otherwise noted, Windows '95, 4X CD-ROM Drive, 16MB RAM, P90 (P133 recommended) 


* Tomb Raider 2 - located in the TOMB2 folder.  See the README located in this folder for
  details.

* EIDOS SAMPLER! - located in the EIDOS folder.  Double click on the EIDOS.EXE to start
  the sampler.  Demos of Daikatana, Deathtrap Dungeon, and Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3
  are available.

* The Dark Project - located in the DARK folder.  Double click on the DARK.EXE to
  start the demo.

* FINAL FANTASY VII - located in the FF7 folder.  Double click on the FF7.AVI to play
  the file.

* JSF 3DFX Demo - located in the JSFDEMO folder.  Double click on the self extracting zip
  file (JSF_demo) to install/play the demo.  

JSF demo requires: 

P133 or greater CPU 
3DFX only - We support hardware acceleration for all Voodoo 1 and 2 chipsets
16MB of Ram or higher (32 is highly recommended)
Direct X 5.0 installed (please verify that ALL your drivers are updated)



General Tips
------------

When installing the game, you cannot install the game to a subdirectory, unless 
the root directory is already created.  So if you want to install Tomb Raider 
to C:\GAMES\TOMBRAID you must create the GAMES directory before running the
install program. The Tomb Raider install program will only create 
one directory level.

You can run the game off of the CD-ROM drive rather than install any files to
the Hard Drive. This is NOT recommended and will result in a number of problems.
Although the game will appear to run properly, the user will not be able to save
any games or any set up info, such as sound card settings and key definitions.

While in Windows '95, if the game is already running, and you open the CD
drive and close it again, the install program will run again, so there will 
be two instances of the program running at one time.  Therefore, you should
not remove the CD while the game is running; all levels and options/title
screens are loaded off of the CD.

If you have any trouble installing and/or running Tomb Raider from Windows '95,
try to see if "Restarting in DOS Mode" and installing the game in accordace with
the DOS installation instructions will correct the problem.


Frequently Asked Questions
--------------------------

1)
Q.	I don't want to install to my C:\ drive, why can't I type the
	"\" symbol (as in f:\tombgame) on the installation directory line?

A.	Press the "/" key instead. The "\" symbol (backslash) will be displayed.

2)
Q.	Tomb Raider does not Auto Select my Sound Card. What do I do ?

A.	There are some sound cards and system specs which make it
	impossible for us to detect your sound card. In these cases you will
	have to manually select your card. Select the option to 
	"Manually Select Card". If you are not sure what settings you should
	use for the DMA and IRQ settings, there are a number of ways to find
	out:
   i.	From the DOS prompt, type SET. If your sound card is Sound Blaster
	compatible there should be a system variable called BLASTER.
	This will show your settings. 
   ii.	If you cannot find this and you have Windows '95 then from the
	Start Button select "Settings", then "Control Panel", then select
	the "System" icon. Select the "Device Manager" tab and double click
	on the word "Computer" [the top item on the list]. From here 
	you can see what your DMA and IRQ settings are for your sound card.
	Do not change any settings. Select CANCEL from the various windows
	you have opened and close the Control Panel.
   iii	If neither of these methods are suitable, there should be a program
	supplied with your Sound Card which allows you to see what your 
	settings are. 

3)
Q.	I don't use AUTOPLAY. What is the correct way to run the game ?

A.	In the directory where you installed the game (by default c:\tombraid)
	we have created a Windows ShortCut. By double clicking on this, 
	with the CD inserted, the game will run.

	If you would prefer to be able to start Tomb Raider from the Start
	Button menu (assuming you are not using AutoPlay) then please
	follow the following steps. Stage 1: 
	Click on the "Start" Button. Select "Settings", select "Taskbar".
	Select the "Start Menu Programs" tab. Select "Advanced". 
	Single-click on the "+" sign next to the word "Programs". 
	This should now display a list of Folders. Single-click
	on the folder from which you wish to launch Tomb Raider, 
	for example "Games"
	Stage 2: We now need to locate the ShortCut on your Hard Drive. 
	Using the Microsoft Explorer, single-click on the directory 
	where you installed Tomb Raider (by default c:\tombraid).
	In here you will find the Tomb Raider Shortcut. It is called
	"Tombraid". Simply Drag it from the Game Directory to the 
	Folder you selected in Stage 1.

Q. 	I'm playing under Win '95 and I keep leaping back to Windows
	when I press the SPACEBAR and ALT at the same time

Q.	Can I stop my Windows ScreenSaver from starting ?

A.	The answer to both of these questions is the same. Having installed 
	Tomb Raider to your Hard Drive you should start the game in one of
	two ways. Either by using the AutoPlay feature, ie just inserting
	the CD or by running TOMB.EXE in your hard drive installation
	directory (by default = C:\tombraid). If you run the TOMB.EXE from
	the CD, the above two problems may occour.

Q.	How can I move Tomb Raider to another Directory on my Hard Drive?

A.	The simplest way is to re-install the game. There are two things you
	will need to delete from your hard drive. The file TOMBPATH.TXT in 
	your root directory and the entire directory where you installed the 
	game. (by default c:\tombraid). If you wish to keep you savegame 
	files, make sure you copy them to a save place, and then move them to 
	your new game directory. The save game files are all called 
	"savegame.nn", where nn is the save game number.

Q.	My menu screens and SVGA version of the game corrupted, why ?

A.	If you find that the SVGA graphics resolution of the game, together 
	with some of the menus are incorrectly displayed this is probably due
	to a VESA problem. **Tomb Raider requires a VESA compliant graphics
	card in order to function correctly**. Most modern graphics cards
	either support the VESA standard via built-in software or by using a
	specific driver which must be loaded before running Tomb Raider.

	If your Video card is not VESA compliant, the Universal VESA driver
	(in the UNIVESA directory) might allow Tomb Raider to work.
	However, you may find that the Video Sequences between levels are 
	blanked out. The UNIVESA.EXE program will need to be run each time 
	before you play Tomb Raider.

Q.	I can't define all the keys on my GamePads and/or Joysticks. Why not ?

A.	Tomb Raider was originally designed to be played with a keyboard on the
	PC. With the increase in popularity of GamePads and Joysticks on the PC
	we have included support for many of these. Please refer to the manual
	for further details. Over the coming weeks, we will be evaluating a range
	of new GamePads and Joysticks and if the demand is there, we'll release a
	small patch to accomodate them. Keep an eye out on the WWW.TOMBRAIDER.COM
	web site.

Q. 	I set up a User Keys definition, and now I want to use the default keys,
	some of the default keys don't seem to work. Why?

A.	There are two keyboard layout screens, the Default Keys and the User Keys.
	If a key is defined as two different things, ie CTRL=Action on the 
	Default setup and as Roll on the User set up the User set up will take
	priority.
	To restore to the default options, you may either define the User Keys
	to be those of the Default Keys, or select keys for the User Keys setup 
	that are not defined in the Default Keys setup.

Q. 	Every now and then the game seems to pause for a fraction of a second.
	Why is this?

A.	Every now and then the game need to access the CD drive to load a new
	sound. The length and frequency of the pauses is conditional on your
	system. Most users of newer PC's with fast CD ROMs will not notice any
	such pauses. If you find them distracting, you can turn off the CD Audio
	from the Audio Option (the icon that looks like a personal stereo).
	Turn the top item (the musical note) down to zero.

Q.	I have a 3d Card, how can I use it ?

A.	Enclosed on this CD are patches for 3DFX, S3 Virge 4MB, Power VR, and ATI.
        These can be found in the 3DPATCHES directory, with the appropriate readme files.

Q.	I've got a Microsoft Sidewinder and want to use it with Tomb Raider, how
	can I do that ?

A.	You will need to make sure you are using the Microsoft Device Profiler 2.0
	(or later, we hope). In the Profiles directory we have created profiles
	for the GamePad, Precision Pro, Sidewinder 3D Pro. Instructions for
	their use are provided in a readme file in the Profiles.

Q.	I have a question that is not answered here, where else can I go for help ?

A.	Enclosed on this CD is our latest FAQ. This is supplied in both ASCII text 
	(trfaq.txt) and Rich Text Format (trfaq.rtf). If you are running DOS you will
	need to use your "EDIT" program to load the file. Windows '95 users should be
	able to use WordPad to open the file.
