Robbo Creative Commons release README.TXT file -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Release information This 2006 release has been recompiled by one of the authors (Maciej Miasik www.miasik.net) from the original source files using the DOSBox emulator (dosbox.sourceforge.net), and it is intended to be run using such emulation. This release has not been tested on a genuine DOS PC machine. Use at your own risk. The game has been released with the permission of the copyright holders. The original game was developed by Xland and was released worldwide in 1994 by Epic Games. Epic Games played no role and bears no responsibility for this Creative Commons release and does not provide any support for it whatsoever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Running the game Download and install DOSBox emulation software (dosbox.sourceforge.net). Extract the game archive to any folder you like, e.g. C:\ROBBO. Run DOSBox from the Start menu shortcut. At the command prompt enter the following commands (assuming the game has been extracted to C:\ROBBO): mount c c:\robbo c: robbo The final command starts Robbo executable. You can now play the game. Refer to DOSBox documentation for additional commands, e.g. playing the game in full screen mode. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Playing the game Visit 60 planets located in 15 planetary systems. Collect the required number of bolts to open the teleport leading to the next planet. Keys ---- Press the spacebar to start the game while in the title screen, or F3 to enter a code to skip to a previously visited system. The system code is displayed on the status display below the playing area, and changes when you enter a new system (every 4 planets). Press the arrow keys to move Robbo (he can push some objects if there is nothing behind them). Press the spacebar, then the arrow key in the direction that you want to shoot to fire Robbo's weapon (Robbo needs to collect batteries in order to power the weapon). Press ESC to restart the level, losing one life. Press Alt-X to exit the game to DOS without confirmation. Press F10 to exit the game and return to the title screen. Press the left Shift key and 1 to 4 keys to select the soundtrack to be played. F1 - turns sounds on/off Cheat codes ----------- Robbo is quite a difficult game by today's standards. If you feel that you need some help with the game, feel free to use the following cheat code (entered with the keyboard while at the title screen): FRONT242 This cheat code changes system codes to LEVELA, LEVELB, LEVELC, up to LEVELO. It also activates the Tab key, which allows you to immediately jump to the next level. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV.
