Electro Man Creative Commons release README.TXT file -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Release information This 2006 release has been recompiled by one of the authors (Maciej Miasik www.miasik.net) from the original source files using the DOSBox emulator (dosbox.sourceforge.net), and it is intended to be run using such emulation. This release has not been tested on a genuine DOS PC machine. Use at your own risk. The game has been released with the permission of the copyright holders. The original game was developed by Xland and was released worldwide in 1994 by Epic Games. Epic Games played no role and bears no responsibility for this Creative Commons release and does not provide any support for it whatsoever. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Running the game Download and install DOSBox emulation software (dosbox.sourceforge.net). Extract the game archive to any folder you like, e.g. C:\EM. Run DOSBox from the Start menu shortcut. At the command prompt enter the following commands (assuming the game has been extracted to C:\EM): mount c c:\em c: em The final command starts Electro Man executable. You can now play the game. Refer to DOSBox documentation for additional commands, e.g. playing the game in full screen mode. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Playing the game Collect 3 disks to activate a teleport platform at the end of each of 8 levels. Avoid obstacles, mines, automatic guns, lasers, energy barriers and other security systems. Collect batteries to power up your weapon. Keys ---- Press left and right arrow keys to move the protagonist left and right, respectively. Press spacebar to fire. Press up arrow key to jump. Use up and left or right arrow keys to jump in required direction. Press down arrow key to activate the teleport while standing on it. Press Alt-X to exit the game to DOS without confirmation. Press ESC or F10 to exit the game and return to the starting screen. F2 - save game (last activated checkpoint is saved) F3 - load saved game (and start from the last checkpoint) Cheat codes ----------- Electro Man is quite a difficult game by today's standards. If you feel that you need some help with the game, feel free to use the following cheat codes (entered with the keyboard at any time during the game): CHAOS - master cheat code enabling the following codes SUPER - god mode - nothing harms the protagonist KILL - kills the protagonist (usable in the god mode) W0 - no weapon W1 - weapon level 1 W2 - weapon level 2 W3 - weapon level 3 W4 - weapon level 4 W5 - weapon level 5 DISK - all disks collected SKIP - skip to the next level -------------------------------------------------------------------------- IV.
